June 30, 2026

Delgado Community College is making strides in the construction of a new, 40,000 sq. ft. Culinary and Workforce Building. The final beam of the structure was recently placed, and Delgado, along with contractor Landis Construction, celebrated the milestone during a Topping Out Ceremony at the construction site on June 23.

Delgado Community College Chancellor Larissa Littleton-Steib, Dr. Arlanda Williams-Smith, Vice Chancellor for Workforce Development, and Elizabeth Duett, Dean of the School of Business joined Landis in the ceremony.

Chancellor Littleton-Steib said: “New Orleans is the epicenter for hospitality and tourism, and Delgado produces professionals of the highest quality to work in these areas. We are committed to ensuring our facilities match that standard.”

The Culinary Workforce building will strengthen training to align with New Orleans’ tourism, hospitality, and food service industries.

The Culinary aspect of the building will feature fully equipped teaching kitchens, a demonstration kitchen, a multi-purpose dining room, an outdoor dining patio and classrooms, computer labs, and offices.

The Workforce aspect of the building will be equally interactive with large, flexible open workspaces for Electrical and Welding programs. Facility features will include customization for electrical training, indoor workshop with individual welding stations, a CNC cutting machine, a plasma cutter and additional tools for the welding trade.
