Delgado’s Omega Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Earns Top Regional & National Honors

Delgado Community College proudly announces that its Omega Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa achieved outstanding success at the 2026 MS/LA Regional Awards Gala, held March 5–6 at Mississippi State University, and at Phi Theta Kappa’s Catalyst Convention in Baltimore, Maryland, March 26–29.
With more than 29 chapters represented at the regional gala, Omega Nu distinguished itself as one of the region’s most accomplished chapters, earning multiple top honors that highlight the dedication of its advisors and student leaders.
Regional Awards and Honors
Omega Nu was one of fourteen top-performing chapters in the region to earn the prestigious Five-Star Chapter Award.
Additional regional recognitions included:
- Order of the Golden Key Award, presented to Sydney Sabin, Omega Nu Vice President of Leadership
- Regional Horizon Advisor Award, presented to Ms. Emily Fulgham-Clay and Miss Kim Russell, who also became the first advisor team in MS/LA Region history to receive the Distinguished Chapter Advisor Team Award, one of only two advisor teams honored this year
- Continued Excellence Advisor Award, given to Miss Kim Russell, the only advisor in the MS/LA Region to receive this distinction
- MS/LA Regional Hallmark Award – Honors in Action (Theme Two: Perspectives in Stories), recognizing the chapter’s exceptional scholarly project
- Top Ten College Project Award, celebrating the chapter’s impactful work within the Delgado community
- Most Distinguished Chapter (Top 10 in MS/LA Region), a testament to the chapter’s overall excellence
Omega Nu was also re‑elected as the Louisiana State Representative for the MS/LA Region of Phi Theta Kappa, continuing a long tradition of leadership.
National Recognition at PTK Catalyst 2026
At the national Catalyst Convention in Baltimore, Maryland, the Omega Nu chapter continued to shine on the international stage. Six student officers attended the national convention, Sydney Sabin, Ty’Lia Brooks, Briana Robinson, Alayna Fulgham-Clay, and Gerard Miller represented both the college and the Omega Nu Chapter:
- Opening Ceremony Representative, Sydney Sabin represented both Delgado Community College and the MS/LA Region during the convention’s Opening Ceremony.
- Continued Excellence Advisor Awards (International Level), Ms. Emily Fulgham-Clay and Miss Kim Russell were honored once again, the only advisors from the MS/LA Region to receive this International Hallmark Award.
- Most Distinguished Chapter Advisor Team (International Level), Ms. Emily Fulgham-Clay and Kim Russell were recognized as one of only two advisor teams in the MS/LA Region to earn this prestigious honor.
- Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar, Sydney Sabin participated in the Parade of Scholars in recognition of her national scholarship award.
During the Hallmark Gala, Omega Nu was named among the Top 100 Chapters out of 1,245 Phi Theta Kappa chapters worldwide, placing Delgado Community College among the most distinguished PTK institutions in the nation.
“This has been an extraordinary year for Omega Nu,” Ms. Emily Fulgham-Clay shared. Phi Theta Kappa students and advisors have demonstrated exceptional leadership, scholarship, and service — and these awards reflect the strength of the Delgado community and Omega Nu chapter.
