Veterans Upward Bound Supports Army Veteran’s Path to Degree Completion

January 15, 2026

Quincy Broaden’s journey is a powerful example of perseverance, growth, and the impact of intentional support.

A U.S. Army veteran, Quincy Broaden became a participant in the Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) program in the summer of 2024 after deciding to return to college to complete a long-standing academic goal. Like many veterans returning to higher education, Mr. Broaden was navigating a complex admissions and enrollment process—an experience that can benefit from structured guidance.

Through Veterans Upward Bound, Mr. Broaden received individualized guidance focused on navigating the college admissions experience, understanding financial aid, assessing academic skills, and engaging in veteran-centered programming. With structured support and encouragement, he gained clarity and confidence in his ability to move forward.

In the fall of 2024, Mr. Broaden graduated from the Veterans Upward Bound program and enrolled at Delgado Community College. Balancing work and academics, he successfully completed his coursework and, on December 17, 2025, earned an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice.

Today, Mr. Broaden continues to serve the Delgado community as a Campus Police Officer, putting his education and experience into practice while remaining committed to professional growth.

“Mr. Broaden represents exactly why Veterans Upward Bound exists—to ensure veterans are supported, empowered, and confident as they navigate higher education and achieve their goals,” said program leadership.

The Veterans Upward Bound team is incredibly proud of Quincy Broaden. His success reflects not only academic achievement, but the confidence gained to complete a journey once left unfinished—and to move forward with purpose.
