Donation Provides Equipment for Delgado’s Radiography and Surgical Tech Programs

January 29, 2020

Delgado Community College Allied Health Division students will benefit from new imaging equipment in the Radiography and Surgical Technology programs, thanks to a generous donation from Ochsner Health System.

Dawn LeBlanc, radiology director at the Ochsner-managed Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center in Houma, acquired two surgical c-arm imaging devices for donation to Delgado Allied Health.

Carleen Boudreaux, professor of Radiologic Technology at Delgado, and Ashley Clary, vice president, Imaging Services at Ochsner Health System, were also instrumental in the acquisition.

“With our students having access to the surgical c-arm in a lab setting, they will gain a stronger knowledge and understanding of the c-arm operation, as well as acquiring the skills needed for success in a sterile environment during surgeries,” said Ty Delger, program director, Delgado Radiography. “We are grateful for this contribution from Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center and Ochsner Health System, which helps Delgado Allied Health students tremendously.”

Ochsner’s donation will enhance the rigor and relevance of the Delgado Allied Health curriculum and ensure that Delgado students are well-prepared for careers, Delger said. “This is an investment in our future leaders,” he said.
