Delgado Awards Certificates to Line Worker Graduates

Delgado Community College’s Workforce Development awarded certificates to the seventh graduating cohort of the Certified Line Worker program on September 21, 2023. The graduates were recognized during a closing ceremony at the Timothy K. Baker Theatre located on Delgado’s City Park Campus. Frank Cinquemano, retired senior lineman from Entergy New Orleans, delivered the keynote address during the closing ceremony. 

The 25-week training course allows trainees to obtain NCCER Certification, career preparation and job placement assistance. Throughout the course, the trainees completed training in NCCER Core, Construction Site Safety, Power Industry Fundamentals, Power Line Worker Levels I, II and III, and Fundamentals of Crew Leadership. They also earned OSHA 10 and CPR and first Aid credentials.

The following graduates received certification from National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) in the specialty area of Powerline Worker (Distribution): Nathaniel G. Byers, Cade A. Dupuis, Griffin Eleby, Scott Folse, Kade M. Gosnell, Nicholas M. Guthrie, Ryley J. Nauck, Jeffery Roderfeld and Andrew T. Vickers.

Several graduates from this cohort have secured employment with Entergy and Waukesha and others are interviewing for positions with both companies.

Delgado launched the Certified Line Working Program in 2018 with backing from Entergy, the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) and the Louisiana Energy Workforce Consortium (LEWC), which is made up of 12 utility companies, the Louisiana Workforce Commission, and regional workforce development boards.

To date, 92 students have graduated from the program.

Delgado Community College oversees the program. Instructors Ryan Price and John Domangue facilitate the curriculum.

The next class will begin in February 26, 2024 with initial interviews taking place in October 2023.
