Delgado Phi Theta Kappa Chapter and CDYC Co-sponsor Wellness Awareness Week

December 12, 2022

The Delgado Phi Theta Kappa chapter and CDYC recently co-sponsored Wellness Awareness Week at the City Park Campus. The event showcased community organizations and Delgado campus programs that focus on improving financial, spiritual, mental and physical health outcomes for students.

The week began with Monday Money Madness, where students heard about available scholarships from Phi Theta Kappa and other organizations dedicated to helping them reach academic goals.  Talk About It Tuesday highlighted Delgado's student organizations including the Gay Straight Alliance, Student Government Association, Trio and others that promote campus engagement and support college life. Wellness Wednesday introduced students to health-focused vendors from around the community, such as the Blood Center, Be the Match, LCMC and Crescent Care, and students were able to find free health resources from the surrounding area. On Thankful Thursday, students were invited to spotlight staff, faculty or other students who inspired their academic pursuits. Students wore their PTK or other organization’s t-shirts on Fashion Friday to display Delgado pride. Each event was live-streamed for those who could not attend.

Wellness Awareness Week culminated in Support Saturday and the 2022 NAMIWalks Your Way New Orleans 5K. Delgado students, faculty and staff raised more than $950 towards mental health awareness.

PTK and CDYC leaders said they look forward to continuing this new tradition and expanding opportunities for student engagement.
