Science

The Delgado Community College Science Department provides first and second year foundational biological and physical science courses that prepare students for careers in the sciences and science related technology fields and for continuing their science education at a four-year institution.

Students that complete courses from our science department successfully transfer to many four-year institutions to continue their education in a variety of major areas such as biology, chemistry, pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, engineering, pre-dentistry, physics, geology, environmental science, physical therapy, and many others.

Our students are also well prepared to enter various science based associate degree programs in allied health, engineering technology, and science technology fields.

Students interested transferring to four-year institutions should consult an advisor or counselor about obtaining either an Associate of General Studies with a concentration in the sciences or Associate of Science Louisiana Transfer degree by following an articulation agreement with participating institutions.

Students interested in associate degree programs at Delgado or other institutions should contact the department advisors or counselor at those institutions. The science department also hosts its own Associate of Applied Science degree in Science Laboratory Technology.

The Science Laboratory Technology Program (Associate of Applied Science) focuses on providing students the necessary skills and techniques used by laboratory technicians. Science Laboratory Technology Programs prepare graduates for employment in chemical, biological, and associated science laboratories.
