Jennifer Fernandez is a mission-driven nurse educator and leader whose work reflects an unwavering belief in the transformative power of nursing and community college education. With more than a decade of experience in clinical practice, teaching, and academic leadership, she brings a collaborative, student-centered approach to her role as Dean of the Charity School of Nursing. Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from William Carey University and her Master of Science in Nursing Education from the University of Saint Mary. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Nursing Education and Administration at William Carey University—modeling the lifelong learning she champions in her students and faculty. At Charity School of Nursing, Jennifer leads with a clear purpose: to create pathways that lift students, strengthen families, and build the healthcare workforce Louisiana needs. Under her leadership, the school has expanded its use of simulation, virtual reality, and interprofessional learning, enhanced curriculum alignment across programs, and deepened partnerships with hospitals and community stakeholders. Her vision centers on access, excellence, and the belief that every student has the potential to succeed when given the right support and opportunities. A respected voice in nursing education, Jennifer has presented at state, regional, and national levels and contributes to initiatives that elevate quality and innovation in nursing programs. Her clinical background—including roles as pediatric staff nurse, charge nurse, and clinical educator—anchors her leadership in compassion, humility, and a profound respect for the work of nurses. She has also served as president of the Society of Pediatric Nurses Louisiana Chapter and as a Peer Evaluator for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Guided by the spirit of “Here We Grow,” Jennifer fosters a culture of gratitude, teamwork, and continuous improvement. She remains dedicated to preparing practice-ready, compassionate nurses who will make a lasting impact in the communities they serve—and to ensuring that Charity School of Nursing continues to grow, innovate, and lead with heart. |
