Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) Eligibility Requirements

An individual is able eligible to participate in VUB if the individual

  • Is a citizen of the United States

  • Served on active duty for a period of more than 180 days, and was discharged or released there from under conditions other than dishonorable

  • Served on active duty, and was discharged or released there from because of a service connected disability

  • Was a member of a reserve component of the Armed Forces called to active duty for a period of more than 30 days or

  • Was a member of a reserve component of the Armed Forces who serviced on active duty in support of a contingency operation on or after 9/11

  • Is a potential first-generation college student,

  • Is a low-income individual; or

  • An individual who has a high risk for academic failure

  • Has a need for academic support in order to pursue successfully a program of education beyond high school
