Delgado Community College Announces New Partnership with All of Us Research Program
Delgado Community College is proud to announce a new partnership with the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Research Program.
The All of Us Research Program is inviting one million people across the U.S. to help build one of the most diverse health databases in history. The database will help researchers improve precision medicine, which is all about finding health care solutions that meet the needs of diverse individuals, taking into account how biology, lifestyles, and environments affect our health differently.
In the past, certain communities have been left out of important medical research. These underrepresented and underserved communities have been either deliberately excluded from the process, or have been hesitant to take part. The gap in research has allowed health inequities to go unchecked, with serious consequences. When you’re left out of the research, you’re left out of the cures.
The All of Us Research Program is trying to change that. By working actively with partner organizations—like us—the program is trying to rebuild trust between the medical research process and underrepresented communities.
