Cox Communications and Delgado Community College Partner for the 7th Annual Small Business Leadership Academy
The Small Business Leadership Academy (SBLA) program provides continuing education and leadership development to entrepreneurs and small business leaders in Louisiana.
This nine-week program is designed to teach small business leaders how to scale their
businesses and increase profitability. The program includes the following business
topics:
- Developing a High-Performance Team
- Empowering Individuals, Teams and Organizations
- Entrepreneurial & Small Business Concepts
- Marketing & Sales
- Business Financials
- Value of a Viable Product/Service
- Supply Chain, Production & Distribution
- Introduction to AI & More Advanced AI for Entrepreneurs
- Strategic Partnerships, Contract Negotiations & Joint Ventures
- Social Media Marketing & Management
- Project Management & Procurement
- How to Register with State and Federal Government or Large Businesses to Become a Vendor or to Answer a Request for Proposal
Delgado faculty-led program modules will be delivered primarily in-person at the College’s City Park campus in New Orleans, LA. Some of the classes will be delivered virtually. The program is open to all Cox suppliers and to non-suppliers, but requests from suppliers will be prioritized. Enrollment is limited to 40 participants maximum. Participants who complete the program will earn continuing education units.
The application deadline to be considered for the SBLA is Sunday, August 9, 2026.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be an existing for-profit business with FEIN and in business for 2+ years.
- The SBLA program is open to all Cox suppliers and to non-suppliers, but requests from current suppliers will be prioritized.
- Participants have the option to receive an industry-based credential (IBC) in “Entrepreneurial and Small Business Concepts” if they take and pass with a grade of 80 or higher the offered IBC exam.
- Cox Communications team partners will review and select the 2026 SBLA students beginning August 10, 2026 and will directly notify those accepted to the program.
- Cox will award scholarships for up to 40 accepted participants to attend classes, receive all class materials free of charge, and will cover the proctored IBC exam fee.
- Participants who complete the program will earn Delgado Community College continuing education units.

Orientation and classes will occur every Monday and Wednesday, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, August 31 – November 9, 2026.
