Delgado continues to evolve by embracing technology and innovative approaches while maintaining academic excellence.  The College introduced new courses in artificial intelligence (AI). The simulated teaching hospital has AI integrations, and new STEM labs are being built on campus.

With support from Apple, Delgado announced plans to launch three Centers for Innovation and Technological Exploration in New Orleans for training programs in areas such as robotics, design, and 3D printing.

Delgado nursing and allied health students facilitated a high-fidelity simulation exercise—the first of its kind at the College—to provide coordinated care to a simulated patient in real-time. The Charity School of Nursing received $1.4 million from the Louisiana Department of Health H.E.R.O. Fund and Ochsner Health to launch an evening and weekend LPN-to-RN program—giving existing Licensed Practical Nurses flexible opportunities to advance their careers while continuing to work.

Strategic Partnerships

Delgado is the lead college for the Greater New Orleans Infrastructure Partnership—implementing a $6.05 million Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grant in partnership with GNO Inc., Northshore Technical, Nunez, and River Parishes Community Colleges. Together, the partners are strengthening the capacity of community colleges as well as curricula for in-demand programs. Delgado is developing Louisiana’s first Electric Vehicle Technology program as well as enhancing courses like diesel technology, commercial vehicle operator, heavy equipment operator, and motor vehicle technology.

Through new partnerships, Delgado continues to align programs to meet the workforce needs of the present and future. Delgado partnered with Apple’s Community Education Initiative to make technology-focused training more accessible in New Orleans. Veolia launched an internship program for workforce students to explore water-related and environmental careers. The College is also working with national partners to improve graduation outcomes through the One Million Degrees initiative. For the sixth year, Delgado partnered with Cox Communications to offer the Small Business Leadership Academy, which provides continuing education and leadership development to entrepreneurs and small business leaders.

Investing in Infrastructure

Ensuring sound infrastructure is vital to Delgado’s future and growth. With the support of an $850,000 congressional earmark secured by Congressman Troy Carter, Delgado is planning the construction of the Automotive Center for Excellence, which will feature advanced technology and specialize in electric vehicle training. The College continues to work on securing additional funding for this initiative.

Construction on the Culinary and Workforce Building is underway. The facility will strengthen training to align with New Orleans’ tourism, hospitality, and food service industries. With support from Lumina Foundation, Delgado recently completed a campus beautification project. Recent enhancements to IT, cybersecurity, and campus safety add additional layers of protection for the Delgado community. We also partnered with City Park Conservancy to expand parking for the growing student population.
