Charity School of Nursing offers a variety of organizations to meet student’s needs in a learning centered environment.

Organizations

Student Government Association (SGA)

All students belong to this organization by virtue of enrollment at Delgado Community College.  This association provides a link between students, faculty, and administration.  This is open to all Charity students.

Charity Association of Student Nurses (CASN)

This organization is part of the Louisiana Association of Student nurses (LASN) and the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA).  It focuses on nursing and health care issues.  The members become involved in local, state, and national projects.  This is for A.D.N. students only.

Spectrum

This service organization was founded to unite men, African-American, and other minority students.  It is now open to all nursing students.

Sigma Alpha Chi (SAC)

This is the honor society of Charity School of Nursing.  This is an invitation only organization for ADN students who achieve a 3.1 GPA in their nursing courses as they enter Level III.  The members offer tutoring to nursing students.  

Phi Theta Kappa

Those students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 are invited to join the Omega Nu Chapter of the college’s Phi Theta Kappa.  This is open to all Charity students.

National Association of Licensed Practical Nurses

The professional organization for licensed practical nurses and licensed vocational nurses and practical/vocational nursing students in the United States.

In October 2018, student members of the Delgado Charity Association of Student Nurses (CASN) attended the 2018 Louisiana Association of Student Nurses (LASN) state convention and brought home a number of awards including:
  • Winner for the Most Hearts of Hope donations for victims of sexual assault.
  • Winner for the Best Overall Scrapbook which was designed by CASN Historian Laura Gamber.
  • William Pellegrin received the Student Spotlight Award and the most coveted award, Honorary Member of the Year.
  • Lindsey McDaniel was re-elected as State Historian of LASN.
  • Laura Gamber, Melissa Mueller and Kristina Landry won 1st Place in the scavenger hunt.
  • Kasey Hall won the raffle for a 2-year subscription to Picmonics and a hotel package including dining and spa service at the Paragon Resort.
  • Kristina Landry  won the raffle for a 2-year subscription to Picmonics and a $100 voucher to Performance scrubs.
