african american male working in a plantDelgado’s Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Instrumentation and Control will prepare you to become a refinery, chemical, or other industry-related operator or technician.

Study the common operating processes found in industrial plants and train for high-skill, high-wage jobs needed in the manufacturing industry. Upon graduation, you can enter the workforce as an entry-level control and instrumentation operator for a specialty career in a strong job market.

  • Apply critical thinking to research, evaluate, analyze, and synthesize information to solve problems related to process equipment, instruments, systems, and operations
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (oral and written) with shift co-workers, first line supervisors, maintenance personnel, safety personnel, contractors, and other members of the manufacturing site team
  • Demonstrate knowledge of process technology and apply the skills necessary to operate complex process equipment and systems such as distillation, fired boiler, refrigeration, cooling tower, reactor, and similar unit operations

  • Obtain an entry-level position in the chemical, refining, oil and gas production, water, waste management, food, or related manufacturing industries
