New Student Orientation

All new first-year students to Delgado must participate in New Student Orientation (NSO). During NSO, you will meet with students, faculty, and staff; begin to develop academic and co-curricular goals; become familiar with campus resources; and schedule courses for your first semester to begin putting your academic plan into action.New Student Orientation logo (compass)

To prepare for a successful transition to Delgado, we've developed an NSO Tasklist to help you navigate your next steps. There are some things that you must complete before your NSO, others that you will complete during your NSO, and even more that will be completed after your NSO.

Goals: Specifically, you will experience the following during NSO:

  • A welcome from a member of the Delgado Leadership team
  • Small group sessions facilitated by our Student Engagement Counselors
  • A chance to complete the placement test or survey for Math and English placement
  • A session to discuss your financial aid package
  • A one-on-one academic advising appointment or Student Engagement appointment for assistance if student’s major is undecided major

  • learn about the campus
  • attend interactive workshops conducted by faculty and staff to learn about academic procedures, student responsibilities, electronic resources, campus support, and so much more!
